ISL 2021-22: Bengaluru FC hold ATK Mohun Bagan in six-goal draw

Goa: A high intensified match with six different goal scorers between Bengaluru FC and ATK Mohun Bagan at Athletic Stadium in Bambolim ended with a 3-3 draw on Thursday. This extended the Blues’ winless strain to six whereas the Mariners tasted win four games ago.

The opener came from a 13th-minute header from Subhasish Bose as the Mariners held their lead for five minutes only. After a few minutes conceding the goal, Bengaluru was awarded the third penalty of their campaign as Liston Colaco pulled down Cleiton Silva inside the box. The Blues’ inaugural came from this set-piece kick from Cleiton Silva in the 18th minute. Danish Farooq made his maiden goal for the Blues in the 26th minute to give them a lead but Hugo Boumos levelled it at the 38th minute to keep the fight on for Mariners. The first half ended with two yellow cards, each shown to Ajith Kumar and Hugo Boumos.

The second half had a more cautious start from both the teams but an infringement between Prince Ibara and Roy Krishna awarded a penalty to ATKMB which was scored by the Fijian superstar himself just before the hour mark. In the 72nd minute, Prince Ibra turned into hero as he crowned his second goal of the season with a powerful header from corner taken by Roshan Naorem. The four minutes added time didn’t proved to be fruitful as both teams deserved to lose and shared the points after a great fight.

Bengaluru FC to face Jamshedpur FC on Monday at the Athletic Stadium while ATK Mohun Bagan will be eager to taste victory against a struggling NorthEast United FC on Tuesday at the PJN Stadium.
