Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Amir engage in Twitter war

New Delhi: It’s been three days since India lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2021 match in Dubai. But the backlash and tensions continue to flare on social media. In the latest episode, Harbhajan Singh and  Mohammad Amir engage in Twitter banter Twitter on Tuesday.

What appeared to be a banter at the beginning soon turned into an ugly spat fest between the veteran off-spinner and Amir. Harbhajan and the former Pakistan pacer started a verbal attack on each other on the micro-blogging site. Harbhajan and Amir shared as many as 8 tweets in their war of words. While there’s no denying that some form of disagreement and banter is common between cricketers but the route the Harbhajan-Amir verbal war has taken is bound to leave a bad taste in the mouth of cricket lovers.

It all started with Amir, as he tried to insult Harbhajan, tagging Harbhajan in a tweet asking how he was coping with the defeat in their opening clash. The latter didn’t hold back and gave fiery responses to the left-arm pacer. Amir tweeted about India’s defeat to Pakistan: “hello everyone woh pochna yeah tha @harbhajan_singh paa ji ne TV to ni tora apna koi ni hota hai end of the day its a game of cricket (wanted to ask if Harbhajan Singh didn’t break his television, as, at the end of the day, it is a game of cricket ”.

In response, Harbhajan shared the video of him hitting a six to Amir, winning the match for India, in one of the matches against Pakistan. The off-spinner wrote in reply: “Ab Tum bi bologe @iamamirofficial yeh 6 ki landing tumhare ghar k tv par to nahi hui thi ?? Koi nahi hota hai end of the day it’s a game of cricket as u rightly said.” Singh tweeted.

Amir then replied by posting a video of Shahid Afridi hitting sixes off Harbhajan in a Test match, which seems to have triggered the off-spinner and turned the banter into an ugly war of words.

After that the veteran India off-spinner replied reminding the Pakistan left-arm seamer about the spot-fixing scandal in England, which halted Amir’s cricket career for half a decade. Responding to Amir’s video of him, the off-spinner gave a strong reply and asked Amir about the fixing incident at Lord’s that saw him being suspended for 5 years.

In which Amir refused stay end the Twitter war and replied saying: “lagi pichware pe @harbhajan_singh  k bhago bhago LALA aya hai”.

Harbhajan then slammed Amir, saying for people like him only money matters and not one’s reputation. The Turbonator further said that he feels ‘yuk’ even talking to people like Amir.

“For people like you  @iamamirofficial only Paisa paisa paisa paisa .. na izzat na kuch aur sirf paisa..bataoge nahi apne desh walo ko aur supporters ko k kitna mila tha .. get lost I feel yuk talking to people like you for insulting this game and making people fool with ur acts”, Harbhajan tweeted.

The war did not stop there as Amir went on to use derogatory language towards the Indian spinner. However, the Turbanator also gave a befitting reply to Amir. In his last tweet Harbhajan once again shared the video of him hitting Amir for a match-winning six with the caption: “Fixer ko sixer.. out of the park @iamamirofficial chal daffa ho ja”.

Responding to the video, “chal bhai me tu laga sone, u sit and do some icing on ur pichwara trust me u’ll in ur senses. GOOD NIGHT.” Amir tweeted.
