Wembley: Italy defeated the World No 1 Belgium, 2-1 to qualify for the Semifinals of EURO 2020 and will be facing Spain in Wembley who eliminated Switzerland wining 3-1 on penalties after being held in a 1-1 level. The match will be a recap of EURO 2012 finals when the Azzuris were quashed 4-0. EURO 2020 marked the evolution of Italy to top footballing sides, Roberto Mancini expects to redeem the loss.
Italy enters into the semifinals with a winning streak of 31 international games, third most in the world and would like to maintain the same with a tough fight for the opposition. Maintaining an all-win record in the round robin stages, eliminating Austria and Belgium respectively, Italy comes in to the tie with a huge win probability.
On the other hand, the route to semifinals for their opponents, Spain, was a little harder. Faltering in the first two matches of the group stage, without captain Sergio Busquets, Spain took their momentum from the final group stage match.
Roberto Mancini earlier said all men in his team are starters but the absence of Leonardo Spinazzola will be thoroughly felt, even though Emerson Palmeiri is expected to replace him to support Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Nicolo Barella along with Marco Verrati and Jorginho will return to midfield, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Chiesa will form the front line as Gianluigi Donnarumma will start under the bars.
Spanish boss Luis Enrique infuse confidence in the squad ahead of the clash and will start with Alvaro Morata, Pablo Sarabia and Ferran Torres in front. While Pedro Gonzalez, Sergio Busquets and Koke will be bossing the renowned Spanish midfield and Ceaser Azpilicueta , Aymeric Laporte, Pau Torres and Jordi Alba is expected to support custodian Unai Simon in guarding the posts.
