Goa : SC East Bengal will feel unlucky after they miss out a chance to beat two-time ISL Champions Chennaiyin FC, on Saturday at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco as the match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes. For East Bengal it was Ville Matti Steinmann who scored twice passed the Chennaiyin goal and for Chennaiyin it was Lallinzuala Chhangte and Rahim Ali. The draw will help Robbie Fowler’s side to breathe some fresh air before their upcoming matches.
The match was end to end from the first minute as both the team wanted to win desperately and be in a good position. Chennaiyin’s missed chances in the game will haunt them as they let go an easy win against the red and gold brigade. East Bengal played better football from their last few games and might feel they missed the golden opportunity to register their first ever victory in the ISL.
Chhangte opened the scoring on the 13th minute of the match in the four goals thriller. It was one of the best goal till now of this season.
After missing numerous chances both the teams started the second half with a different belief. German Steinmann scored his first goal for his new club in the 59th minute from a header. It didn’t took more than five minutes for Chennaiyin to hit back by the help of Rahim Ali. After he was played a beautiful ball by the Club captain Rafael Crivellaro.
Soon after Steinmann hit back just after four mins and settled the score 2-2. A perfect end to end match on the Boxing Day speaks highly about the quality of football being played in ISL. But Robbie Fowler need to think about the team’s defense certainly, East Bengal certainly need to tighten the defense to improve the table standings.
