60 best amateur players, 6 teams battle it out at inaugural ‘Soccer 20:20’

Kolkata: 60 best amateur players of the city will be in action on Sunday (October 18) when six teams battle it out for the title at the inaugural Soccer 20:20. The one-day tournament is being organized by Sportslight Media in association with Travel Curry Media and Soccer City FC at Clive House ground in Nagerbazar, Kolkata.

The six teams in the tournament are have been named after the legendary footballers – Ronnie’s Nou Camp, Gerrard’s Anfield, Zidane’s Bernabeu, Maldini’s Sansiro, Buffon’s Juventus and Beckham’s Trafford. The tournament will also have two Bengal cricketers in action – Pankaj Shaw and Anustup Majumdar. While Shaw has been the 12th man of the Virat Kohli-led India twice in the past, Majumdar has been a hero for Bengal for quite some time now. Both of them will play for Buffon’s Juventus.

The six players to watch out for Darpan Bose, Soumyajit Banerjee, Ayan Das Sharma, Shatadru Dutt, Sumit Nautiyal, Debasish Biswas and Somnath Mondal. There are also five candidates for the emerging players to watch out for the category. They are Saikat Chakraborty, Rohan Pal, Vaswarjit Saha, Subhayu Ghosh Dastidar and Kaushik Bose.

The tournament was earlier scheduled to happen on April 5 but had to be postponed due to COVID-19.
