4-star Brighton oust Manchester United out of Champions League qualification

Brighton :Manchester United was defeated by Brighton & Hove Albion by 4-0 in a English Premier League clash on Saturday ( May 8). The defeat indicates now it is mathematically not possible for United to qualify for UEFA Champions League next season. Liverpool, on the other hand drop points against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United’s disasterclass continued as they crashed out of the Top four spot in the worst possible way. United looked slow and sloppy to begin with, and were punished subsequently as Brighton went 1-0 up through a Moises Caicado strike. Former FC Barcelona academy player, Marc Cucurella also found himself on the scoresheet.

The goal count was taken to four by a strike each from Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard. The disappointing evening concluded for the Red part of Manchester with a failure to play UCL next season. Elsewhere, Liverpool were held to a 1-1 by Tottenham.

However, Spurs on the other hand, took further steps to finish in the top four of the Premier League. Spurs took the lead at Anfield through a strike from Son Heung-Min however a deflected strike from Luiz Diaz helped Liverpool rescue a point.

Chelsea on the other hand, were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderes at Stamford Bridge. Romelu Lukaku’s brace was not of much help as Francisco Trincao and Conor Coady snatched a point for Wolves. Chelsea are also cutting close to remain in the top four spot as Arsenal and Tottenham close in gaps.
