Kolkata : The 1st Day of 38th National Games saw action packed events.
Dhinidhi Desinghu bagged record breaking 3 Golds setting National Record in 200m Swimming, while Srihari Nataraj clinched 2 Golds. Both of them are from Karnataka.
West Bengal’s Devesh Shaw too opened accounts for them, as the youngster won Bronze Medal in Wushu. Manipur bagged Gold.
Haryana’s iconic shooter Ramita Jindal displayed top class performance in 10m Air Rifle shooting, topping the chart with score of 634.9.
Rugby Sevens saw Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar register commanding victories in the women’s category, while Haryana and Odisha continued their unbeaten runs in the men’s competition.

Dhinidhi Desinghu of Karnataka won three gold medals on the opening day. She also re-wrote her own national record in the women’s 200m freestyle category to clinch the gold medal. Later, she added two more gold medals in her kitty, winning the women’s 100m butterfly and women’s 4*100m freestyle finals.

Ningthoujam Wilson Singh of Services clinched the gold medal in the men’s HighBoard event with a total score of 289.10.
Amit Dey – Services completed podium for Services by winning the silver medal with a score of 272.50. Meanwhile, Om Rajesh Awasthi of Maharashtra clinched the bronze medal with 239.30.
