Nisshin : India defeated Japan by 8 wickets in Quarter Final to start Asian Games 2026 campaign in style.
Bowling first, after end of powerplay, Shree Charani trapped the Japanese Batters and picked 4 wickets conceding 10 runs with 2 maidens in her spell. Shafali Verma also grabbed 2 wickets. Shree Charani came into the tournament with 4-fer spell in her impressive Asia Cup final.
Chasing 58, India lost G Kamalini (0) and Bharti Fulmali (6) early on 24 runs. But Shafali (40*) played a quick fire 40* (15) comprising 2 sixes and 6 boundaries.
Richa Ghosh (12*) also supported her well as India chased down the total in 5 overs to book semi final spot against Bangladesh. The game will be played on September 20 along with the other semi final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
