Kolkata : Cricket Association of Bengal has appointed coaching panels for junior and senior level men’s Bengal teams for 2026-27 season. CAB already announced the head coaches and deputies for Bengal Men’s Cricket age groups, but today it announced full setups.
BENGAL SENIOR MEN’S TEAM
Laxmi Ratan Shukla is all set to continue as head coach of Bengal senior team for the season. He has been in that role since 2022. Former Maharashtra Batter Surendra Bhave will be his deputy for the season. Shukla has guided Bengal to a Ranji Trophy Final and two semi finals during in tenure. Bhave scored 7971 runs for Maharashtra in 97 DC matches. He has extensive experience as coach in the domestic circuit, having coached Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha. He was also national selector during 2008-10 period. Sanjeeb Chowdhury will be Strength and Conditioning (S&C) coach, Mukesh Sinha will serve as Video Analyst. Chirag Pandya and Bikash Kundu will be Physiotherapist and Masseur respectively.
BENGAL U19 MEN’S TEAM
Former Indian and Bengal player Manoj Tiwari has been appointed as Bengal U19 Men’s coach with Dattatreya Mukherjee as his deputy. This is the first time Tiwari will be taking coaching role. Vishal Singh (Strength and Conditioning), Gautam Sarkar (Video Analyst), Deepti Ranjan Parida (Physiotherapist), Mrinal Kanti Pal (Masseur) will be other staffs in the panel.
BENGAL U23 MEN’S TEAM
Former Indian and Bengal Wicket keeper Batter Wriddhiman Saha will continue his role as Bengal Men’s U23 Head coach with Sabir Ali assisting him. Saha was appointed last season and has coaching experience in Bengal T20 League and Clubs. Sabir Ali, who played for Bengal and Railways during early 2000s, will be Deputy Coach. Paurush Singh (Strength and conditioning coach), Binod Patra (Video Analyst), Adipta Das (Physiotherapist), Sanjay Chakraborty (Masseur) are others in the panel.
BENGAL U16 MEN’S TEAM
Anustup Majumdar, also known as ‘Crisis Man’ ended his 103 matches and 22 years old legendary domestic career silently, taking up Bengal U16 Head coach role. He also confirmed that this will be his last season as player, as he continues to play for Mohun Bagan and Medinipur Wizards, after which he will be taking up coaching role. Gautam Shome (Jr), who previously played for Bengal during 1980s will be assisting him.
Goutam Deb (Strength and conditioning coach), Sayantan Das (Video Analyst), (Ankan Roy Chowdhury) are others in the role.
Meanwhile, Saurasish Lahiri has been left out of the coaching set up altogether despite being the only coach to get regular invitation from Centre of Excellence for coaching assignments. However, CAB might assign role in future. Former Aussie pacer raised many eyebrows with speculations of taking up Bengal coaching panel position, and the talks escalated when he left Bangladesh coaching role few days ago. However, CAB hasn’t included him any coaching roles, as, according to reports, it could have taken more than ₹2 crores.
Overall, the new coaching staffs comprises experienced guns, who can prove to be beneficial for grooming the future of Bengal.
