Birmingham : Mohammad Siraj (6/70) and Akash Deep (4/88) helped India get upper hand despite English Batting heroics from Jamie Smith (184*) and Harry Brook (158), on Day 3 of 2nd Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
England ended Day 2 on 77/3 with Harry Brook and Joe Root at crease. Indian pacer Akash Deep quickly picked wickets of Root (22) and Ben Stokes (0). India reduced England to 84-5.
However, Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184*) smashed big tons and notched important partnership of 303 runs.
While Brook scored 158 (234) comprising 17 boundaries and 1 six, Jamie Smith remained unbeaten scoring 184* (207), comprising 21 boundaries and 4 sixes.
The match saw yet another turn after Brook’s dismissal on 387. Md Siraj cleaned up the tail, picking 6-fer , while Akash Deep finished with 4 wickets as England collapsed to 407, trailing by 180 runs.
India coming to Bat saw Yashasvi Jaiswal (28) taking aggressive mode with 6 boundaries before getting dismissed being trapped LBW by Josh Tongue.
India finished the Day 3 on 64-1, leading by 244 runs, with KL Rahul (28*) and Karun Nair (7*) still at crease.
