Kolkata: Novus Royals Purulia defeated Sobisco Smashers Malda by 8 runs at Eden Gardens and earn semi final berth in their debut Bengal T20 League season.
Batting first, Purulia Batter Yuvraj Deepak Keswani (40) played viral knock under pressure. However, apart from small contributions, rest of the lineup lost regular wickets and were restricted to 139/8 (20). Suraj Jaiswal, Ramesh Prasad, Prayas Raj Barman all picked 2 wickets each for Malda.
Defending 140, Purulia bowler Mithilesh Das dismissed both openers quickly on 28. Likes of Prayas Raj Barman (32), Ranjot Singh Khaira (28*)began to take the game away from Purulia.
However, Malda faced a collapse triggered by efficient bowling of Pradipta Pramanik. While Ranjot stood at one end , no one supported him from other end , eventually Malda were restricted to 131/8 (20).
Both Pradipta Pramanik and Mithilesh Das grabbed 3 wickets each. Purulia will now enter semi final in their debut season. They’re now third team to enter semi final along with Malda and Shrachi Rarh Tigers.
