Kolkata : Bengal will aim to begin their Ranji Trophy season on a positive note with a win against Uttarakhand at the Eden Gardens.
Bengal is placed in Elite Group C alongside Railways, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam, Services, Tripura.
Ahead of the all-important opener, Bengal head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla said, “We have done our preparations very well. Now, it is about executing our plans on the field. We have our bases covered in all departments.”
In the batting department, Bengal will rely on the experienced duo of Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sudip Chatterjee at the top.
Besides scoring runs, Easwaran will be eager to make a mark as a captain.
Sudip Kumar Gharami, senior pro Anustup Majumdar and Abishek Porel will look to get runs under their belt at the start of the season.
Bengal’s bowling department will be boosted by two terrific fast bowling duo of Md Shami and Akash Deep. Both the pacers will aim to make the best use of the conditions.
Skipper Easwaran is confident of his team’s chances. “We have the best bowling attack in the domestic circuit. We are confident as a team. We will give our best to bring glory for Bengal cricket,” the captain said.
