
Abu Dhabi : Bangladesh began their DP World Asia Cup 2025 campaign in emphatic fashion, cruising to a seven-wicket win over Hong Kong in the Group B clash in Abu Dhabi. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack kept Hong Kong to a modest 143 for 7 in 20 overs.
Young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib starred with the ball, claiming 2 for 21 including the key wickets of Zeeshan Ali (30 off 34) and Hayat. Taskin Ahmed (2/38) and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (2/31) provided crucial breakthroughs, while Mustafizur Rahman kept things tight with an economical spell of 4-0-20-0. Despite a late burst from Yasim Murtaza (28 off 19), Hong Kong never found the momentum to challenge Bangladesh.
In response, Bangladesh’s chase was anchored by skipper Litton Das, who blazed a 39-ball 59, laced with six fours and one six. Parvez Hossain Emon (19 off 14) and Towhid Hridoy (35* off 36) played supporting roles as Bangladesh reached the target in 17.4 overs, finishing on 144 for 3.However, the star of the match was undoubtedly Litton Das, whose match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match title.
