Kolkata : 2 star Indian pacers are likely to miss the 3 Match ODI Series against England , starting from February 6-12, 2025.
According to multiple reports, Indian talisman pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj will be rested for the ODI series against England.
The hero and player of series in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 – Jasprit Bumrah was lone warrior for Indian Bowling lineup, bagging 32 wickets, at times, over bowling himself. He suffered back spasm as a result during Sydney Test, and went for scans, later didn’t even take field during India’s bowling in 2nd Innings.
According to PTI’s sources privy to the development, the grade of Bumrah’s back spasm has not yet been ascertained. If Bumrah’s injury is in grade 1 category, then it will take a minimum two to three weeks of rehabilitation before Return to Play (RTP). In case of Grade 2 injury, the recovery can go up to six weeks while Grade 3, the most severe in nature, requires a minimum three months of rest and rehabilitation programmes.
With the selectors and the management keen on ensuring a fully-fit Bumrah for the Champions Trophy, he is likely to be rested for the ODI series against England, which will begin on February 6 at home.
According to RevSportz, if Bumrah is to be included in the Indian team in the ICC Champions Trophy, the team management must obtain medical permission from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff.
As for Mohammad Siraj, who bowled tirelessly in every Match, and was India’s 2nd highest wicket taker in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is also likely to be rested in ODI series against England to manage workload and keep him fresh for Champions Trophy in Dubai.
The rest will be much needed for Mohammed Siraj, as the pacer has been bowling continuously for the last few months. The team management would want him to be extremely fit as he will be playing a crucial role for the team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
