Royal Challengers Bengaluru conquer IPL 2025 to end 18 years trophy drought

Ahmedabad : Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in IPL 2025 final to clinch maiden IPL title, ending 18 years trophy drought.

Batting first, RCB lost in form Phil Salt (16) early for 18 runs. Mayank Agarwal (24) & Virat Kohli (43) notched up 38 runs partnership.

Kohli went on to anchor and build vital partnerships with Rajat Patidar (26) & Liam Livingstone (25). Despite losing wickets, Jitesh Sharma (24) & Romario Shepherd (17) played cameos to put good total of 190-9 (20).

Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamison troubled RCB Batters picking 3 wickets each.

Chasing 191 runs, Priyansh Arya (24) & Prabhsimran Singh (26) put up 43 runs opening partnership. Josh Hazlewood gave first breakthrough for RCB. Prabhsimran Singh departed soon after.

Suddenly PBKS started losing wickets from one end. Josh Inglis (39) held his nerves, continued hitting sixes but Krunal Pandya turned the game in RCB’s favour with his wicket and ending an economical spell of 2/17.

Shashank Singh (61*) and Nehal Wadhera (15) built 38 runs partnership and kept PBKS in the game.

However, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar delivered match winning over in 17th over, picking wickets of Nehal and Marcus Stoinis.

In the end, Hazlewood defended 29 runs off last over, writing RCB’s name in history books.

Krunal Pandya was awarded man of the match.
