Paris Olympics, Day 9 Summary : Indian Hockey team march into semi finals, Lakshya Sen out of Gold medal contention after close battle, Lovlina Borgohain knocked out

Paris : India saw a day with lots of ups and downs. Indian Hockey team defeated Great Britain in Penalty Shoot Out in Quarter Final to qualify into semi final. Lakshya Sen missed out a huge chance to qualify into final after a close loss against Viktor Axelsen in semi final. Lovlina Borgohain too got knocked out & more actions followed.

Badminton

Lakshya Sen lost 20-22, 14-21 to reigning champion Viktor Axelsen, will battle for bronze.

Athletics

Parul Chaudhary finished eighth in women’s 3000m steeplechase round 1, knocked out.

Jeswin Aldrin finished with 7.61m mark in the final attempt with the first 2 attempts being foul attempts in Men’s Long Jump Qualification event. He finished on 13th place in Group B and could not qualify for the finals.

Hockey

India defeated Great Britain in men’s hockey quarter-final.

Shooting

Vijayveer Singh comes 5th in 25m rapid fire men’s pistol qualification Stage 1, Anish comes 7th.

Maheshwari Chauhan ended on 14th place, could not capitalize in round 5 in Skeet women’s qualification hitting a total of 118 targets.

While Raiza Dhillon finished on 23rd place, hitting 113 targets. Either of them could not qualify for Finals.

Boxing

Lovlina Borgohain lost women’s 75kg quarter-final, knocked out.

Golf

Shubhankar Sharma & Gaganjeet Bhullar completed their Round 4 & their final positions were T40 & T45 respectively.
