Paris : Indian Badminton player Lakshya Sen’s win against Kevin Cordon will be “deleted” following Cordon’s withdrawal from the tournament due to elbow injury.

Indian youngster Lakshya Sen hammered Tokyo Olympics semi finalist Kevin Cordon in straight sets 21-8 , 22-20 on 27 July in Men’s Singles Badminton Group Stage.

However, the Badminton Federation announced Cordon’s withdrawal from the Paris Olympics 2024 with an elbow injury, leaving the Group L with 3 players.

What does the rule say?

“As per BWF General Competition Regulations for group stage play, the results of all matches played, or yet to be played, involving Cordon in Group L are now considered deleted,” the world body said in statement.

What it means for Lakshya Sen’s campaign?

Lakshya will thus lose his hard earned 2 win points earned in the match following the withdrawal and thus, the win will not be counted. He will start from 0 points.

This means, his next 2 matches against Carragi on Monday and against Christie on Wednesday will be must win ones to qualify into next round.
