Brussels : Kevin de Bruyne had to subbed off during the UEFA Champions League final due to injury after a nasty collision with Antonio Rudiger. Manchester City were trailing 0-1 against Chelsea and eventually lost the trophy to them.
Later reports revealed that the Belgian suffered fractures to his nose and left eye socket which put his return to national duties in doubt for the European Championship. Belgium play their first Euro match against Russia in June 12.
Although Belgium National Team coach Roberto Martinez told the media that his team’s star playmaker has undergone “a small operation” on his face in Saturday (June 5) and would be joining the training from Monday (June 7). The surgery lasted for 20 minutes and is reported to have gone well for the player.
