Kolkata : Argentine star Julian Alvarez ended his golden run at Manchester City and has joined Atletico Madrid on 6 years deal, reportedly for €81.5m.
Alvarez has scored 36 goals for Manchester City, after joining them from Argentine club River Plate and has been on a dream run since then. During his time at the club, he has won two Premier League titles, as well as the Champions League, FA Cup, Super Cup, and Club World Cup. Additionally, he was part of Argentina’s squad that won the 2022 World Cup and the Copa America 2024.
Ending his fairytale journey with Pep Guardiola’s army , he wrote in his social media, “Today I say goodbye to this wonderful club with many emotions. They were two very special years. During this time, I grew and learned a lot as a player and as a person”.
“I will always be very proud to have been part of this family, Manchester City will always have a special place in my heart. I wish you every success in the future and will continue to support the club from wherever I am.”
He also acknowledged his fans for supporting him.
An inclusion of Alvarez, with jersey no 19 in Atletico Madrid’s forward, will boost their attack.
