Wroclaw: Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat won a silver medal after her weapon malfunctioned during the women’s 25m pistol event of the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President’s Cup on Tuesday.
The seasoned Indian markswoman fired 31 rounds in the final, missing a few important shots in the previous two sets due to a gun failure.
Prior to the malfunction in her weapon, Sarnobat was on a roll, hitting the target three times in a row at the conclusion of the final.
Manu Bhaker, the other Indian in the final, was ousted in sixth place. While Germany’s Vennekamp won gold with a score of 33 and Mathilde Lamolle settled for bronze medal with 27.

Later on the day, Bhaker will compete in the gold medal match of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Mixed Team event with partner Ozgur Varlik of Turkey. Earlier, Bhaker and Iran’s Javad Foroughi won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.
On day five of the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) President’s Cup here on Monday, Indian shooters Rahi Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker qualified for the finals in the women’s 25m pistol event.
Both Olympians fired 583 in qualification, but Rahi took fourth place ahead of Manu’s fifth due to greater inner 10s.
While other Indians’ efforts in the fray were not enough for the Cup. Chinki Yadav finished ninth in the women’s 25m pistol event with a score of 578, while Anjum Moudgil finished ninth in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions with a score of 584.
The first ISSF President’s Cup is a renamed version of the ISSF World Cup Finals, where the world’s top 12 shooters are invited to select the greatest individual athletes of the year in the different Olympic sports.
