Abu Dhabi : South African all round display helps them beat Ireland in 1st ODI by 139 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi & go 1-0 up in the 3 Match ODI Series.

Batting 1st, South Africa lost 3 quick wickets for 39 runs within Powerplays.

However, a 152 runs mammoth partnership between Ryan Rickelton (91) & Tristan Stubbs (79) put the Proteas back on track.

Despite surviving Mark Adair (4/50) & Craig Young (3/45), ending cameos of Bjorn Fortuin (28), Lungi Ngidi (20*) brought them to 271-9 (50).

Proteas coming to defend 272 runs, was powered by Lizaad Williams 4-fer, whereas, Lungi Ngidi and Bjorn Fortuin both picked 2 wickets each and diminished Ireland at 132 runs.

Rickelton was adjourned the Man of The Match for his heroic knock.

Both teams will next face each other on October 4 for 2nd ODI.
