New Delhi: After consistently performing well for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and scoring tons of runs domestically star batsman Suryakumar Yadav finally was rewarded as he earned a maiden India call-up for the T20I series against England.
The feeling is surreal,” tweeted Surya along with his picture at the D Y Patil Stadium.

Yadav was overlooked for the limited-overs matches in Australia late last year despite the fact that he has been a consistent performer for the past few IPL seasons. Surya finished IPL 2020 with 480 runs and bagged the seventh spot in the list of highest run-scorers of the season. Yadav has been Mumbai’s top run-getter scorer since 2018 ahead of the likes of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
He was not the only uncapped Indian player to be picked for the T20I series against England. Yadav’s MI teammate Ishan Kishan and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Rahul Tewatia were also picked for the first time in the India squad.
