FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022: India drawn alongside USA, Brazil ,Morocco in Group A

Hosts India have been drawn with the United States of America, Morocco and Brazil in Group A of the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Group B has Germany, Nigeria, Chile, New Zealand
Group C has Spain, Colombia, Mexico, China
Group D has Japan, Tanzania, Canada, France

 

India’s first match will be against the United States on Tuesday, October 11 at the Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneswar. Their second match will take place at the same venue on October 14 (Friday) against Morocco. Their final group stage match against Brazil will be held on Monday, October 17th, at the Kalinga. All of India’s games will begin at 8 p.m. On matchdays, there are two time slots for matches: 4.30 PM and 8 PM.

As a result, India was chosen to host the 2020 edition, but that tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, they were chosen to host the 2022 edition once more.

The other World Cup venues are Goa’s Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. The quarterfinals will take place at the Goa Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The quarterfinals will be held in these stadiums.

If India advances (as group winner or runner-up), the quarterfinals will be held in Navi Mumbai (on 21 October). Both semifinals are set to take place in Goa, while the third-place match and final (30 October) will take place in Navi Mumbai.

Spain is the defending champion, having defeated Mexico in the 2018 final. North Korea is the tournament’s most successful team, having won it twice (in 2008 and 2016) and finishing runners-up in 2012. Japan, South Korea, and France have all won the championship once.
