ENG vs IND, 2nd Test, Day 2: Shubman Gill shatters record with double hundred as India post mammoth total on board

Birmingham : India continued their domination on Day 2 of 2nd Test of Anderson-Tendulkar trophy with skipper Shubman Gill’s double hundred, at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

India ended Day 1 on 310-5, with Gill and Ravindra Jadeja at crease.

The duo went on to add mammoth 203 runs partnership, before Jadeja got dismissed scoring brilliant 89 (137).

Washington Sundar (41) joined Gill for another big 144 runs partnership.

Shubman Gill went on to complete his double century and played knock of 269 (387) comprising 30 boundaries, 3 sixes.

With this, Gill became first Asian and Indian captain to score double century at England. It is highest individual score in England by any Indian Batter, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar (221). Gill became only 3rd Indian Batter along with Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid to score double century in England and 2nd youngest Indian skipper to do so.

India posted huge 587 in their first innings.

With the Ball, Indian pacer Akash Deep removed both Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope for ducks, while Md Siraj picked Zak Crawley (19).

However, Harry Brook (30*) and Joe Root (18*) notched 52* runs partnership to ease off the pressure as England finished on 77/3 on Day 2.
