Birmingham : India dominated England on Day 1 of 2nd Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston , Birmingham, with help of century from skipper Shubman Gill and half century of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Batting 1st , India lost KL Rahul (2) early on 15 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) formed a fine 80 runs partnership with Karun Nair (31) but the later got out on 95.
Jaiswal played solid knock of 87(107) comprising 13 boundaries and was dismissed off English skipper Ben Stokes on 161, but not before forming 66 runs partnership with skipper Shubman Gill (114*).
Rishabh Pant (25) formed 47 runs partner with Gill but the Indian middle order saw fumble as both Pant and Nitish Reddy (1) got out in quick succession.
Ravindra Jadeja (41*) joined Gill for 99* runs partnership for rest of the day and eased pressure off from India.
Gill went on to smash his 7th Test hundred and 2nd in this series, with score of unbeaten 114* (216) , including 12 boundaries.
India ended Day 1 on 310-5 , with Gill and Jadeja at crease.
