Perth, December 24, 2024 : India pushed Australia to backfoot on Day 3 of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at WACA, Perth, with help of historic tons of Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
India started Day 3 with 172-0 opening stand between KL Rahul (77) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) .
Despite Rahul missing on his hundred nearly, Jaiswal continued his heroic Batting and brought up his maiden international Test hundred in Australia. Devdutt Padikkal (25) supported him for 74 runs partnership.
However, India saw a short collapse with Jaiswal, Padikkal, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel falling quickly on 321 runs.
However, Virat Kohli (100*) & Washington Sundar (29) held the innings and notched up 89 runs partnership. After Sundar’s dismissal, Nitish Reddy (38*) joined Kohli for quick fire innings.
Kohli, on other end, reached his 30th Test Century, 7th in Australia, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar (6), most by any Indian Player. India declared the innings on 487-6 , setting 534 runs target for Australia.
Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah (2/1) & Md Siraj (1/7) coming to Ball raged fire and picked up 3 quick wickets. Bumrah removed McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne, while Siraj took Pat Cummins.
Australia are now 12-3 after end of Day 3 and need 522 runs to win.
