Kolkata : Riding on a superb all-round performance, Bengal outclassed Himachal Pradesh by 94 runs in the summit clash on Monday to emerge champions of Under-19 Men’s Inter State One-Day Tournament (Siechem Trophy).
The win helped Bengal U-19 team clinch back-to-back pre-season titles (multi-day and one-day).
Bengal’s Ankit Chatterjee was awarded the player of the final for his superb 120 off 94 balls. Kushal Gupta, who bagged an impressive 4 for 26, won the highest wicket-taker award while Sayan Paul won the highest run-scorer award.
Opting to bat in Pondicherry, Bengal scored a challenging 300 in 47.4 overs. Besides Ankit, Sayan (87 off 84), Ashutosh Kumar (37) and Ramij Raja (22 not out) made vital contributions.
Sanket Sharma and Lakshya Thakur bagged three wickets each for Himachal Pradesh.
Chasing the target, Himachal Pradesh lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 206 in 41.2 overs.
Besides Kushal, Rohit Das (2-42), Ashutosh (1-30) and Ramij (1-46) were the star bowlers for Bengal.
