In 2004, October 16th FC Barcelona were playing RCD Espanyol at the Olympic Stadium. With just 8 minutes to spare, Leo Messi was subbed on in place of Deco. This marked what is called the beginning of an era in FC Barcelona. The Argentine went on to create the record of most goals for his team.

16 years later, Messi has 635 goals in 734 games. His first ever goal came against Albacete. Since then, he has shown and offered everything that a footballer can. He has to his name 34 major trophies. His individual accolades include six Ballon d’Or, seven Pichichis and six Golden Shoes, as well as becoming the only footballer to ever win the Laureus Sportsman of the Year.

In spite of the fiasco a couple of months ago, Leo Messi is currently playing his 17th season for FC Barcelona. From arriving here as a kid to being the best in the history of FC Barcelona. 16 October is surely a day every culler around the world cherishes.
