Kolkata: Raphinha scored brace as Barcelona made an impressive start in their opening Champions League game, as they got a dominant 5–1 win over Feyenoord at Camp Nou. Hansi Flick’s men were in total control from the start, as their relentless attacking quality proved to be to much for the Dutch visitors.
Barcelona only needed three minutes to open the scoring, as a quick counter from Pedri and Lamine Yamal saw Raphinha score with ease to give the Catalans an early lead. The hosts continued to dominate and suffocate Feyenoord throughout the first half, as they looked to extend their lead.
However, their pressure was rewarded in the 22nd minute, as they scored their second goal through a powerful long-range effort from Karim Adeyemi. Feyenoord were unable to deal with the attacking threat from Barcelona, as the Catalan giants continued to create chance after chance. The hosts went to the break with a solid 2–0 lead, after they had failed to score in the final minutes of the first half.
Barcelona were just as dominant in the second half. In the 57th minute, they extended their lead to two goals as Raphinha scored his second goal of the evening following a clever pass from Pedri. Raphinha was having a brilliant game on the wing, as his impact on the game once again helped Barcelona take control.
Feyenoord threatened to make it fair for a short while, but Barcelona responded quickly to re-establish their dominance. Lamine Yamal scored a fourth goal for Barcelona in the 77th minute, another reward for his energetic display. Feyenoord pulled a goal back through Sem Steijn in the 82nd minute, but the Catalans were quick to respond.
Substitute Gabriel Jesus scored in the 85th minute to complete a 5–1 win for Barcelona. Barcelona’s attacking strength, movement and ability to create chances throughout the match made the difference, while Feyenoord were unable to cope with the intensity of the hosts.
Barcelona made light work of beating Feyenoord at the Spotify Camp Nou, as their attacking threat and high pressing game were to much for the visitors. The victory provides a great start to Barcelona’s Champions League league phase, while also continuing their brilliant start to the season. Raphinha, Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus all got on the scoresheet to give them plenty of confidence heading into their next European tie.
