Kolkata: BCCI has announced 15 men Indian squad led by Shubman Gill for Test series against Sri Lanka.
The squad sees return of veteran allrounder Ravindra Jadeja who missed Afghanistan Test and last featured in home test series against South Africa. His return will be vital as he serves as backbone of the team. He was out of action following the tennis elbow injury he suffered during the 2026 Indian Premier League in May. His presence adds balance to the side with his left-arm spin, dependable lower-order batting and exceptional fielding, particularly on turning pitches in Sri Lanka.
33 years old spin bowling allrounder Saransh Jain earns maiden call up owing to strong domestic returns. The squad also features Manav Suthar and Kuldeep Yadav further strengthening spin department required on Srilankai Pitches. Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah have been included subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence, while Washington Sundar was unavailable for selection for the first Test.
In a press release, the BCCI said: “The Men’s Selection Committee has selected India’s squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Ahead of the series, the team will play a four-day practice match in Colombo, starting on 7 August.”

Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah’s availability will be subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI COE.
Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test.
Before the Test series begins, India will play a four-day practice match in Colombo from August 7 to fine-tune preparations. The opening Test will be held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, with the second and final Test scheduled at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
The series will also be an important assignment for Gill as he continues to establish himself as India’s long-term Test captain. It will also be vital series for India as they are under pressure in World Test Championship progress after losing home Test against South Africa.

7–10 August 2026: Four-day Practice Match – Colombo
15–19 August 2026: 1st Test – Galle International Cricket Stadium, Galle
23–27 August 2026: 2nd Test – Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo.
