Kolkata: Nacho Monsalve has completed a very special transfer. The Spaniard, who became champion with FC Twente (Keuken Kampioen Divisie) in 2019, has signed with Indian club East Bengal FC . The team from the city of Kolkata won the Indian Super League title last season. With this move, Nacho is taking a step outside Europe for the first time in his career.
The now 32-year-old Spaniard had been a free agent since July 1, 2026, after his contract with Hércules expired. He was active for a total of one season in the third tier of Spanish football. In the 2018-2019 season, he was a regular in FC Twente’s defense, with whom he eventually became champion and was promoted back to the Eredivisie after a one-year absence.
After winning the championship and promotion to the Eredivisie, the Spaniard moved to NAC Breda. Via Levski Sofia and LKS Lods, he signed with CD Eldense in 2024. A year later, he signed with Hércules, where he left after just one season. Next season, he will be playing for the Indian national champions, who will compete in the AFC Champions League Two, comparable to the Asian Europa League.
