Chennai : India defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets at Chepauk, Chennai in 3rd ODI to whitewash the guests 3-0.
Bowling first, India took quick 4 wickets of Afghanistan and reduced them to 36-4. Skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (102) smashed century and notched 105 runs partnership with Azmatullah Omarzai (50). Mohammad Nabi (21) also set a 57 runs stand with him. However, another collapse at the end played spoilsport for Afghanistan. From 198-5 (37.1) they’re bundled out to 218 (44.2).
Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna (5/23) starred with 5 wickets haul.
Chasing 219, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (110*) and Rohit Sharma (79) smashed 170 runs opening stand.
Jaiswal scored his 2nd ODI hundred with an innings of 110*(86) comprising 3 sixes and 14 boundaries with 127.91 strike rate.
Shreyas Iyer (20*) also played an ending cameo for a 54 runs partnership as India chased down the target in 28.4 overs.
Prasidh Krishna was awarded Player of The match, while Shubman Gill bagged his 6th Player of The Series award , equalling with Rohit Sharma.
