Manav Suthar shines in debut Test as India push Afghanistan to backfoot on Day 2

New Chandigarh : Indian debutant Manav Suthar grabbed 3 wickets in his debut Test, as India pushed Afghanistan to backfoot at Mullanpur, New Chandigarh in Day 2 of One – Off Test.

India ended Day 1 on 368-3 with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant on strike. After adding more runs, Gill was dismissed scoring 126 (177) with a six and 15 boundaries. India faced a short collapse as Dhruv Jurel (19) and Pant (81) departed soon, with India at 456-6.

Manav Suthar (28) and Mohammad Siraj (22) played aggressive knocks and departed to bring the score past 500. But it was Washington Sundar’s innings that took the spotlight at the end. He scored 52* (68) with 5 boundaries and a six as India declared on 564-8. Afghanistan pacer Saleem Safi picked 6 wickets.

India coming to bowl made all-out attack on Afghanistan, as Manav Suthar grabbed 3 wickets dismissing Abdul Malik (16), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (12) and Afsar Zazai (3). Prasidh Krishna also dismissed Sediqullah Atal (17) and skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (12) as India restricted Afghanistan to 113-5, trailing by 451 runs at the end of Day 2.
