London: England restricted New Zealand to 61/6 after end of Day 1 of 1st Test at Lord’s, London, after what was a pacer dominated day. Ollie Robinson who returned to English lineup after 2 years dominated New Zealand with his fiery spell of 4/10.
England upon being put to Bat completely lost the way with top and middle order getting dismissed constantly. Apart from Harry Brook (56) half century no Batters stood tall against Kiwi pacers Kyle Jamieson, Nathan Smith and William O’Rourke. Jamieson took 5-fer dismantling the middle and lower order, while Nathan Smith picked 3 wickets and O’Rourke 2. England were bundled out for 140.
Coming to bowl, Ollie Robinson wrecked havoc on Kiwi top order in his very first over since return. He dismissed Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra in that very same over ; a triple wicket maiden.
Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue dismissed skipper Tom Latham and Tom Blundell respectively as the Black Caps were reduced to 29/6.
A small rescue effort from Glenn Phillips (32*) helped New Zealand end the day with 61/6, trailing by 79 runs.
