Kolkata : Indian Super League 2026 saw an electrifying and heated match between East Bengal and Bengaluru FC that ended with 3-3 at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Kriangan. However, what came in spotlight was a controversial fight and red card to East Bengal Footballer Miguel Figueira, which East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon heavily criticized.

In the match, during 25th minute, a problem started with Miguel clearing a ball. This led to a fight between the two teams’ dugouts. The coaches and coaching staff of both teams even got into a fight. The whole thing was centered around Miguel. The Brazilian even grabbed neck of Bengaluru’s Assistant Coach. After that, Miguel had an argument with the Bengaluru assistant referee, and the referee showed Miguel a red card and sent him off the field as a result of heated altercations.

While leaving the field, Miguel lost his temper and kicked the ball and sent it to the Bengaluru dugout where support staffs and players were sitting which created a new controversy. Experts believe that Miguel could get into trouble for kicking the ball and sending it to the opponent’s dugout. He could be suspended.

However, East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon came in support of Miguel and stated that it was from a provocation from Bengaluru Assistant Coach where he made racist and sexist comments on Miguel on spot. He also demanded withdrawal of the red card like it was done in case of Sanchez.

‘We are not happy when decisions off the field affect the field. The Bengaluru assistant coach insulted Miguel by calling him “Viado” (a sexist comment) in Portuguese, which led to the scuffle.’

Despite all the chaos, the match saw a fitting end with Anton Sjoberg delivering the late equalizer in 90+7 minute to level 3-3 and grab important points for East Bengal in the heated clash.
