Kolkata : Police AC defeated East Bengal FC 2-0 in CFL 2025 encounter at Barrackpore‘s Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay Stadium on Sunday.
It is to be noted that Police AC also defeated East Bengal’s arch rivals Mohun Bagan earlier in CFL 2025.
In first half, Mohammad Amil Naim opened the scoring for East Bengal, smashing from penalty spot to convert into goal and take 1-0 lead. After that both teams got ample opportunities for rest of first half but couldn’t capitalize.
In 2nd half, East Bengal looked dominant and eyed comeback against Police AC. However, experienced faces of the opposing team, Faizal Ali, Surjit Sheel, and Williams, stopped East Bengal with dominant football.
To add salt on wound, Police AC’s Mrinmoy Mahapatra scored their 2nd goal and increased the lead to 2-0.
In rest of the match, Police AC defended well against trailing East Bengal and as a result, clinched the match 2-0.
