Kolkata : England defeated India by 5 wickets at Headingley, Leeds in 1st Test and took 1-0 lead, with help of Ben Duckett’s 6th Test century.
England ended Day 4 on 21-0, with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett at crease and 350 runs to win chasing 371.
Crawley and Duckett extended the partnership to 188 runs, playing carefully.
While Crawley played knock of 65 (126), Ben Duckett smashed his 6th Test century, scoring massive match winning 149 (170).
Prasidh Krishna created hopes with 2 wickets of Crawley and Ollie Pope (8), but Duckett smashed another 47 runs partnership with veteran Joe Root (53*).
Shardul Thakur yet again picked wickets of Duckett and vice captain Harry Brook (0) in consecutive Balls of 55th over, yet again raising hopes of Indian fans.
However, Joe Root and skipper Ben Stokes (33) notched yet another 49 runs partnership, before Stokes got dismissed trying to reverse sweep Ravindra Jadeja’s Ball.
The pair of Joe Root and Jamie Smith (44*) put the final nail in the coffin with 71 runs match winning partnership, with Jamie Smith finishing off with a six.
Duckett was awarded man of the match as England lead 1-0.
