Dubai : West Indies crushed England by 6 wickets at Dubai International Stadium & qualified for ICC Women’s T20 WC 2024 Semi Final.
Chasing 142 runs, West Indies started in a dominant display with skipper Hayley Matthews (50) & Qiana Joseph (52) notched up a 102 runs partnership, highest against England in ICC Women’s T20 WC history.
English bowlers did pick up wickets and brought down the run rate but veteran Deandra Dottin (27) gifted West Indies a dominant win and place in Semi Final.
In 1st innings, West Indies dominated England with triple blow for 34 runs.
Nat Sciver Brunt (57*) & Heather Knight (21*) notched up a 60 runs partnership to bring England back into the game.
West continued their wicket taking and economical run after break of the partnership in 15th over, stopping England to 141-7 (20).
Afy Fletcher (3/21) & skipper Hayley Matthews (2/35) starred with Ball to restrict England to the total.
Qiana Joseph was adjourned the Player of the Match for her heroic knock.
West Indies will now face New Zealand in 2nd Semi Final on October 18 at Sharjah.
