Mathias Boe, coach of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, Announces retirement

Kolkata : The man behind the legendary Indian duo Satwik-Chirag, Mathias Boe announced retirement following their surprise exit from Paris Olympics 2024 Round of 16.Boe posted the announcement in his social media account.

This shocking announcement came after their upsetting exit from Paris Olympics 2024 Quarter Final against the Malaysian pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.

Boe had been pioneer in bringing the duo in international success, limelight. Most notable win was 2022 Thomas Cup win & the duo ranking number 1.

Boe had nothing but kind words for his proteges, Satwik and Chirag.

“You have won so much over the past years and you are going to win so much more in the future,” he said via his Instagram post.

The world no.5 pair entered the Olympics as the third seed and were one of India’s biggest medal hopefuls in badminton.

“For me, my coaching days are over, I am not going to continue in India or anywhere else, for now at least,” said Boe, who has been crucial in the success of the doubles pairing over the last 3-4 years.

“I know how much you wanted to bring a medal back to India, but this time it wasn’t meant to be. But you have everything to be proud of,” Boe said.

He acknowledged the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Badminton Association of India for their support over the years.
