Former Sri Lanka skipper shot dead in front of family

Ambalangoda : Former Sri Lankan U19 skipper Dhammika Niroshana shot dead in front of his wife & children at his Kanda Mawatha residence in Ambalangoda.

Ambalangoda police said Niroshana was with his wife and two children when the unidentified assailant shot him with 12 – bore firearm.

Police are yet to identify the suspect and the motive behind the shooting but the investigations are ongoing.

A fast bowling all rounder, Niroshana debuted for Sri Lanka U19 team in 2000. He also captained the team in 2002 U19 WC, taking 7 wickets in tournament.

Sri Lankan stars like Maharoof, Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga also played under his leadership. However, he chose not to play Cricket after 20 years age.
