Mumbai : Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Mumbai Indians by 24 runs at Wankhede Stadium 1st time since 2012.

Venkatesh Iyer’s 70 runs and Mitchell Starc’s 4/33 proved crucial in the historic feat of KKR.

Defending 170 runs on a flat track, KKR didn’t allow MI top order to settle. Spinners Varun Chakaravarthy & Sunil Narine tied the Batsman in their spin thread and crumbled the Batting line up, picking up 2 wickets each.

Surya Kumar Yadav (56) gave a lone fight against the KKR bowling line up but it wasn’t enough.

Mitchell Starc announced his comeback in form with a 4-fer against MI, rattling up the tail quickly, dismissing MI for 145 runs.

In 1st innings, KKR Batting 1st, didn’t have a good start, losing half of their side in the powerplay for 57 runs.

Venkatesh Iyer (70) & Manish Pandey (42) built up a 80 runs partnership. Venkatesh stayed till the last over on the crease, taking MI bowlers to cleaners and posted a respectable total 169 at the end of innings. He was adjourned the man of the Match for his heroics.

KKR are now placed at 2nd on points table, will take on LSG at Lucknow on Sunday, 5th May.

MI are almost knocked out of the tournament, will face SRH on 6th May at Wankhede.
