T20 World Cup 2021: Dominant England overpower lackluster West Indies

Dubai: England outplayed West Indies sealing wicket victory in Super 12, Group 1 of the ICC World T20 on Saturday in Dubai. A repeat of the final of the last edition at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Englishmen got their revenge as their bowlers ran havoc wrapping the batting line up defending for a mere 55 in 14.2 overs before chasing it down with ease despite losing a few wickets.

English spinner Adil Rashid(2/4) lead charge with his career best spell while Tymal Mills(2/17) and Moeen Ali(2/17) joined the part too.The West Indies batting line up despite having the biggest of hitters lacked the the character to play it through the period and showed no signs of maturity in cautious situations with their shot selection being put under scanners. Nicholas Pooran got just a single while big man Andre Rusell went home for a duck. In all, apart from veteran, Chris Gayle(13) none in the line-up even was able see double digits.

In reply, even though chasing such a tiny target, England lost four wickets. Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone, the pillars of the English middle order went home on single digits. Young West Indian Akela Hossein(2/24) did have his moment despite knowing the obvious result of the game from early on. Jos Butler(24*) made sure, without further dents, England seal the deal.

Brief Scores: England 56/4 in 8.2 overs (Jos Butler 24, Jason Roy 11; Akeal Hossein 2/24) beat West Indies 55 all-out in 14.2 overs(Chris Gayle 13, Shimron Hetmyer 9; Adil Rashid 4/2, Tymal Mills 2/17) by wickets.
