'Looking to take every game as final': says SRH's Rashid Khan ahead of second phase of IPL

Dubai: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leg spinner Rashid Khan said the team is looking forward to giving their 100% in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), which is scheduled to start on September 19 in the UAE.

The spinner also said he has been religiously working on his batting skills to give SRH an edge lower down the order, as he is looking forward to finishing up well in the second phase of the IPL 14 in the UAE.

“From one and a half years, I have been working on my batting as last 15-25 runs are very crucial for the side. So just trying my best to do different things, haven’t practised a lot of shots in the nets but I’m just focusing on having the right mindset,” khan said in a video posted by the franchise on their official Twitter handle.

The Afghanistan star has also admitted that the SRH didn’t have the ideal start in the first half of the IPL 2021, winning just one game from the 7 games they played. After a disappointing season in their first phase, the Orange Army also had a change in captaincy as David Warner was replaced by Kane Williamson. SRH is currently at the bottom in the points table, but now they are determined to treat every game as a final to make it to the top four.

“Definitely looking forward to the rest of the season. We did not have the ideal first half during the competition in India but we are reunited and looking forward to finishing up well. Will take every game as a final for us and give 100 percent.”

Wickets in the UAE are said to assist the spinner, speaking about the same, Rashid had mentioned that “SRH have played enough games in the UAE and know the conditions very well. Before going to the UK, I played here. I think one doesn’t need to change much. It is a bit about mindset like which areas are good to bowl on these wickets. You have to just bowl according to the conditions and situations. Nothing much to change. I have the self-belief and confidence to deliver for the team.”

SRH will begin its campaign in the UAE on September 22 against Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Stadium.
