Rome : Italy make a flying start to their Euro campaign with a 3-0 win over Turkey. The European Championship’s first match was all about the Italian domination, as Turkey rarely stood a chance against them.
Roberto Mancini’s men were having a dream run with a 27 game unbeaten run before they faced Turkey at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday (June 12). The Azzuris took hold of the match from the beginning of the match, enjoying all the shots at goal for the first half.

Just before half time, the Italy side kept building pressure as a header from Giorgio Chiellini was saved one handedly by the goalkeeper and a shot from Ciro Immobile went right at the opposition goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir and the score line stood at 0-0 at half time.
The Turkish defence finally gave into the pressure created by the opposition, when Merih Demiral chested a ball into own net. Immobile doubled the lead from a scramble in front of the goal on 66 minutes.
Lorenzo Insigne scored the final goal on 79 minutes with a spectacular curler shot and the home crowd got what they came for. “It was important to start well here in Rome, and it is a joy for us and for all the Italians,” said Mancini. “It was a great evening, I hope there will be many more, but there are still six to go before Wembley”.
