Mumbai: Twenty-seven-year-old Mumbai cricketer Karan Tiwari was found hanging at his Malad home on Monday (August 10) night. Although the reason for his death is yet to be known, it is suspected he was suffering from depression. An accidental death case has been filed by Kurar police and till now no suicide note was found.

Known as ‘Junior Steyn’ due to the identical bowling action as that of South African pacer Dale Steyn, Tiwari belonged to a middle-class family and used to live with his mother and brother at Malad.

According to police, Tiwari called one of his friends and said he was suffering from depression because he was not been able to find the proper platform to show his talent. That friend told these things to his sister. By the time he said these to his mother, it was too late. Karan went to bed at around 10 PM on Monday night and locked the door. By the time the door lock was broken, he was dead.

Tiwari was struggling hard to get a chance to play in the senior team. Mumbai senior team coach, Vinayak Samant also said, he had been trying to find a good local club for him.
