Kolkata : Two times Bengal T20 League winning captain for Kolkata Royal Tigers and leading run scorer of the tournament Mita Paul has thanked Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for Bengal T20 League platform for Women getting opportunities. She also idolizes Jhulan Goswami and her struggle before standing tall as legend.
‘Thankful to CAB’
Thanking CAB she said, “Bengal T20 League is a fantastic opportunity for a Women Cricketer to get this kind of priority on big stage. I’m thankful to CAB on behalf of Women’s Cricket and ones associated with it”.
Inspiration from Jhulan Goswami
She referred to Indian Jhulan Goswami, also known as ‘Chakdah Express’. Jhulan rose to ranks in Indian Cricket after struggling throughout her childhood days at a time when Women’s Cricket was like a taboo. Mita stated that everyone of them saw Jhulan’s struggles before becoming a legend and all follows her taking inspiration. Jhulan 325 international wickets has inspired millions of Indian girls to take up Cricket.
“I’ve seen Jhulan di, how she came, from where she was to where she is today standing tall as a legend. We’ve learned what struggle truly means from her, how to fight through it, we’ve followed her hard work and dedication and we continue to do so even today”, Mita added.
Hard Work in Off season
Mita stated that she works hard to rectify her mistakes during practice sessions in off season.
“Everything depends on practice, so the areas I need to rectify or the skills required during the season, I dedicate seperate time during off season to work on them. When I’m on field, I only think about Cricket, when in break, I’m completely different. It helps me return to the game with stronger mindset. My motivation comes from telling myself whatever comes, I’ll give all, I work hard on the areas where I can improve”, said Mita.
Price of Prize Tag
Kolkata retained Mita Paul through RTM for ₹3 Lakhs during Bengal T20 League 2026 auction, making her most expensive player in the league’s history.
Mita stated that the prize tag adds responsibility on her despite being exciting.
The Kolkata skipper said, “I’m enjoying this phase to become most expensive player. While it’s exciting, it brings responsibility. Reaching this level is result of my hard work and consistent performances. I want to take on that responsibility and eye better performance”.
Mita Paul has captained Kolkata to 2 titles and emerged as Leading run scorer in Bengal T20 League history, besides winning Player of the match in both season’s Semi final and final.
