
Ahmedabad : India defeated West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in 1st Test at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Md Siraj (4/40) & Jasprit Bumrah (3/42) pace duo, and Kuldeep Yadav (2/25) rattled West Indies to 162 runs in first innings.
India pilled up 448 runs in their first innings, declaring at start of Day 3. Centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja on Day 2 helped India smash the score. Skipper Shubman Gill also played crucial knock of 50 (100).
West Indies, still trailing by mammoth margin got bundled with spin thread of Ravindra Jadeja (4/54) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/23). Pace sensation Md Siraj (3/31) also bagged 3-fer , as India wrapped up the match within 3 days.
Jadeja, with all-round show was awarded Man of The Match, his 11th in Test Cricket, joint 2nd for India.
Both teams will meet each other on October 10 for 2nd and final Test at Delhi, with India 1-0 up in the series.
